The seven sisters of the outcast LeFleur family struggle to survive in the devastated Deep South after the Civil War, confronting poverty, racism, and internal family tensions. Because production was never finished, the film ends ambiguously, leaving viewers to imagine the conclusion to this intense, morally charged saga.
