Hot Shots! Part Deux

During a surprising night operation, the team storms Saddam's palace and a nearby prison camp to rescue the prisoners and attempt to assassinate Saddam. The mission is met with heavy resistance, and the entire rescue team is captured by Iraqi forces. The failure triggers political maneuvering and sets the stage for a new plan.

After the debacle, Benson and his advisors suspect a mole in the operation. Colonel Denton Walters suggests recruiting war hero Topper Harley, who has retired from the Navy and become a reclusive Buddhist in a small Thai village.

Walters and Michelle Huddleston press Topper to return to duty. He initially refuses to go back to combat, but a later failed mission convinces him to reconsider and lead the operation.

Topper joins Williams, Rabinowitz, and Harbinger, the sole escapee from the prior mission, and parachutes into an Iraqi jungle near the hostage camp. They prepare to move toward the objective.

Topper meets Ramada, his ex-girlfriend, who guides them to a fishing boat prepared for transport. She explains that Dexter is alive and a prisoner, and shares the backstory that led her to help, including the heartbreak that forced Topper to retire.

The squad proceeds as river fishermen toward the camp, but a confrontation with an Iraqi patrol boat delays their progress. The delay forces them to adjust plans and regroup for the next attempt.

President Benson hears of the setback and commits additional forces to support the raid. Despite the setback, Topper's team survives the encounter and presses on toward the hostage compound.

Inside the hostage camp, alarms ring and a gunfight erupts. Harbinger reveals his disillusionment but inspires Topper to keep fighting, and the prisoners begin to be freed.

With the prisoners freed, Topper decides to rescue Dexter from Saddam's palace and leads a new insertion into the enemy stronghold to extract the prisoner.

Inside the palace, Topper confronts Saddam and engages in a duel. President Benson arrives and defeats Saddam by spraying him with a fire extinguisher. The scene includes a surreal moment where Saddam briefly reconstitutes into a dog headed form.

Topper locates Dexter and carries him out on his shoulders as Iraqi guards scramble to stop the escape. Dexter is hampered by the way the guards have tied his shoelaces together, complicating the exit.

During the evacuation, Ramada reveals that Michelle is the saboteur who ruined previous rescue attempts and orders her arrest.

Dexter arrives with Topper and asks to take a picture of him with Ramada, but steps back too far and falls off a cliff, creating a moment of danger amid the celebration.

The evacuation continues as Saddam fires on the helicopter; Topper and Ramada push a piano out of the open door to shed weight and ensure a safe escape. They lift off and fly into the sunset, sharing a kiss as they begin a new life together.
