Hopalong Casualty

The title cards roll as Wile E. Coyote closes in on the Road Runner. He lunges, initiating a brief wrestling exchange that ends with the Road Runner leaving behind only a smoke outline of his quarry. The Road Runner beeps and speeds away, kicking off the ongoing pursuit.

The Road Runner beeps, flinging the Coyote into the air. He lands, hanging on a telephone pole as the Road Runner zips by. The power lines tug the pole back toward him, driving him into the ground in a humiliating spill.

Dazed but undeterred, the Coyote crawls out of a nearby manhole, flattened yet determined to continue the chase. He brushes himself off and steadies his resolve for new schemes. The Road Runner remains a taunting beacon in the distance.

The Coyote hides behind a rock face, waiting for the Road Runner’s beep. When the bird speeds into view, he leaps into the road but is quickly flattened by an oncoming truck. Dust settles as he stumbles to his feet, more determined than ever.

He sets a rope and rock trap, hoping to lasso the Road Runner. When he yanks the string, the device snaps back and he ends up squashing himself instead. He gather himself, muttering in frustration as the chase resumes.

The Coyote hides dynamite in a tunnel under the road, confident of a big payback. As he retreats deeper, the detonator handle presses down and the blast erupts, blasting him with debris and smoke. He staggers out, winded but unyielding.

He sets a trap in a pit marked 'DETOUR' and wheels in an Acme Christmas Packaging Machine. The Road Runner pops up behind him; startled, the Coyote is launched into the machine and neatly boxed. The boxed Coyote tiptoes off screen, humiliated once again.

The Coyote attaches dynamite to a fishing line and prepares to cast. He jerks back too hard, the dynamite gets snagged in a cactus, and he winds the line around himself. He tries to snuff the fuse, but it accelerates to an explosion.

The Coyote scatters Acme Earthquake Pills along the road in hopes the Road Runner will snack them up. The Road Runner eats them with no effect and zips away, while the Coyote swallows the pills himself in disgust. He flings the empty bottle aside, reading the label with growing dread: Not effective on Road Runners.

The product takes effect on the Coyote, causing him to shake, rattle, and jerk across the landscape. A huge boulder smashes him and he teeters on a rocky arch, nearly losing his footing. When the tremors cease, he steps forward and walks straight into a cliff’s edge, plummeting to the ground.

The Road Runner looks back at the audience and gives a final beep before speeding off, leaving a trail of smoke. The smoke forms the words 'The End' as the scene closes, signaling another failed pursuit for the Coyote.
