The short illustrates how cinema drives fashion demand. It opens with a rural mother and daughter shopping for a dress, their eyes caught by a Joan Crawford gown displayed in a shop window. The scene shifts to Hollywood, where MGM’s chief costume designer Adrian shows how a single pattern is replicated for mass production. The film concludes with brief clips from several MGM productions, showing the newly popular styles on screen.
