In post‑war Liberia, French ex‑pilot Yves Montand joins a diamond‑smuggling scheme with a Nazi collaborator, a German refugee, and the white mistress of a Liberian official. A romance erupts between the pilot and the mistress, but a conspirator’s sudden change of heart threatens the plot. The film’s steamy scenes were softened for American release.
