A Wicked Ghost

Annie and three friends start a game of contacting ghosts, hoping to glimpse unseen spirits. Ming, Annie's boyfriend who isn't involved, sees a ghost and tries to stop them. Soon after, the three friends die under mysterious circumstances, signaling a deadly consequence.

Ming's sister Cissy grows worried that Ming could be dragged into danger after the friends' deaths. She seeks help from Fa-mo, a drama teacher, hoping for guidance. This prompts the trio to investigate the supernatural threat together.

Meanwhile, Annie becomes possessed by a ghost. The haunting delivers a grim warning: Annie has three days to live. The revelation sharpens Ming's resolve to uncover the truth.

Ming and Fa-mo travel to an abandoned village to learn more about the haunting. There they meet Lee Keung, an old man who grew up nearby and knows the village's dark history. He begins to explain the tragedy behind Cho Yan-may, the Cantonese opera singer.

Lee Keung recounts Cho Yan-may's life and how she was framed for adultery and killed by the villagers. In the days after her death, Cho's vengeful ghost allegedly caused 66 villagers to die in unexplained ways. The tale sets up the haunting's origin and threat to the living.

The group discovers that Cho's ghost can pollute a nearby freshwater pool with her aura. Those who drink the water experience hallucinations and may end up killing themselves. The pool becomes the focal point of the haunting's spread.

The team manages to keep Jack from forcing Cissy to drink the polluted water. They intervene during Jack's trance and prevent a deadly escalation. This narrow victory buys them time to confront Cho's ghost.

Ming dives into the pool to uncover Cho's remains. He passes through a supernatural portal and emerges with the haunting's source in sight. The danger intensifies as Cho's presence reaches him directly.

Cho's ghost squeezes Ming's life from him, and his body surfaces at the water's edge. Fa-mo learns of Ming's fate and rushes to act. The turning point confirms that the threat is real and immediate.

Fa-mo returns to Jack's home and drinks the polluted water so he can see Cho's ghost and confront her. He hopes to rescue his friends and end the haunting through bravery. The plan hinges on facing the ghost directly in a risky act.

Fa-mo hugs Cissy, whom he secretly admires, and she momentarily transforms into Cho. He realizes the transformation is an illusion and returns to reality, choosing to embrace Cissy. Cho, seeing the true bond, spares them and vanishes.

When Jack regains consciousness, he is upset to see Fa-mo embracing his fiancée. Cho's ghost appears beside him, and he screams in fear. The haunting ends with the unresolved tension and the ominous presence lingering.
