The earlier subplot involving Kirby Baker's arrest and Myrna Wong signals that the board's crimes are catching up with them.

At the end of the movie, after Will and Stella marry, they take off in a helicopter with a trailing banner that reads 'STELLA JOHNSON FOR MAYOR.' This signals that her victory in the PTA election is just the beginning of her political future, indicating Harper Valley is ready for broader change and that Stella will continue challenging the town's conservative establishment.

Will's wealth and influence, combined with Stella's growing popularity, set up the possibility of a larger political role.

Willis Newton is a wealthy Harper Valley board member who was not involved in the original letter against Stella. He falls for Stella and becomes her key ally, supporting her campaign for PTA president. He marks some of the stolen Milk Fund money to help recover it and encourages Stella to pursue leadership, ultimately marrying her in the film's happy ending.

Will is introduced as a sympathetic board member who separates himself from the board's controversial actions.
