During Japan’s feudal wars, the Awa clan nears extinction against a rival aided by demons. A careless promise has their dog retrieve the enemy warlord’s head and demand marriage to the lord’s daughter. After the couple’s death, their eight pups are reborn as the Dog Warriors—Hakkenden—each embodying a Bushido virtue. United, they fight demons and rogue samurai to save their clan.
