Set in Sicily in 1943, Franco and Ciccio hide in the mountains to escape the war. When two American paratroopers strip them of their clothes and exchange uniforms, the duo are mistaken for soldiers, captured by the Germans and sent to Germany. They escape, find refuge on a farm, and become entangled in a series of mishaps. After the conflict ends, they are believed dead but are actually alive and safe in Germany.
