Two shepherd boys, Kekec and Rozle, start working for a farmer with a blind daughter, Mojca. At night they discuss Pehta, a mountain woman rumored to steal children. The next day they go to an Alpine cottage, where Kekec promises to find a cure for Mojca’s blindness. While she picks flowers, Pehta arrives and takes her to her cottage, for her singing.
