A young idealist returns to the plantation where he was raised in servitude, bringing his fiancée Lutiebelle. He hopes to persuade the owner that she is his cousin to secure an inheritance. Comic chaos ensues with his relatives Missy and Gitlow and the well‑meaning but hapless son Charlie.
