Biung, an Indigenous man, and his wife rely on a pickup truck to deliver goods, living with the pressures of daily survival. Biung's alcoholism creates a volatile home life and drives their teenage daughter Savi to stay away from home. The family balance teeters as hope for a better future flickers.

To help a friend who wants a boob job, Savi helps pose as prostitutes to rob male clients. The scheme reveals the extent of desperation in their circle and the moral gray areas people navigate. It also foreshadows the interconnected struggles that will unfold later.

Yellow Bull drives a truck carrying a Bodhisattva statue and other gods for temple events across the island. He also feeds stray dogs and rescues discarded deities' statuettes, showing his compassionate side. His steady, quiet routine connects the various lives around him.

On his way to Yi-lan for the gate opening ceremony for hungry ghosts, Yellow Bull meets Xian, a wandering teenager, and Savi, who is returning home. He offers them a ride, weaving their fates together. The meeting underscores the film's theme of interconnected lives.

On the mountain highway, A-xiong and Qing argue in the car on their way back to Taipei while Biung and his wife discuss a brighter future with a truckful of peaches. A lost expensive puppy suddenly runs across the road and triggers a deadly car crash. The crash becomes a pivotal moment that tests all the characters.

Biung, due to his drinking habit, becomes a prime suspect in the crash, triggering tension with his family and the community. The tragedy exposes how alcoholism and anger spill over into violent outcomes. The incident marks a turning point for multiple lives.

Shocked by the crash, A-xiong and Qing quietly follow Yellow Bull’s truck, and the sight of the serene Bodhisattva leads them to reflect and begin to reconcile. They manage to come out of their despondency and make up, finding a shared moment of hope.

Biung, still drunk, leaves home with a bottle of gasoline intending to commit suicide in the mountains. The approaching danger is interrupted by the unexpected sight of Yellow Bull's Bodhisattva and the crash's aftermath. This moment shifts his path away from despair.
