Nina, a teenage orphan with mental issues, takes a garden‑cleaning job, meets Toni and falls in love, but he soon betrays her. Meanwhile, Francoise is removed from a Berlin hospital’s psychiatric ward by her husband Pierre. After seeing Nina, Francoise is convinced the girl is her kidnapped daughter Marie, yet neither Toni nor Pierre believe her, leaving Nina uncertain what to think.
