Shy, penniless Peter Porter meets fellow drifter Nancy Crane on a Florida beach. Nancy, buoyant and convinced that projecting success can create real wealth, persuades Peter to pose as an eccentric, confident rich couple. Their ruse lands them a designer wardrobe and a luxurious resort suite, but panic sets in when Peter receives an unexpected, lucrative job offer.
