Frozen Fever

One year after the events of Frozen, Elsa, Idina Menzel is determined to give her younger sister Anna, Kristen Bell a perfect surprise birthday party, and she enlists the help of Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and the cheerful snowman Olaf, Josh Gad to ensure the celebration goes ahead without any problems. The plan is lively and meticulously organized, blending warm family moments with the playful chaos that defines their wintery world.

Anna is led on a party treasure hunt created by Elsa, following a length of string that guides her from one gift to the next, while the house fills with excitement and anticipation. The day starts off smoothly, but Elsa suddenly begins showing cold-like symptoms. With each sneeze, she unintentionally births a swarm of Snowgies, tiny snow-babies who begin to dismantle the party decorations. Kristoff and Sven rush to corral the mischievous little intruders, and Olaf greets them with his usual open-hearted cheer, welcoming the chaos instead of fighting it.

Elsa brushes off Anna’s mounting concern about her sneezing, insisting that she does not get colds and eagerly continuing the treasure hunt. Anna, meanwhile, is weighed down by the sheer number of extravagant presents the hunt has produced, and Elsa’s condition grows more worrisome. The sisters climb toward Elsa’s final present, two figures of themselves as part of the hourly clocktower procession, a moment that feels magical yet tense as Elsa’s fever-clouded thoughts drift. Now delirious and wobbly, Elsa teeters near the edge of the platform before slipping and nearly falling.

Anna lunges forward to grab her sister’s wrist, pulling her back to safety. Reluctantly, Elsa admits that she is suffering from a cold and needs to go home and rest in bed. They return to the castle, where Elsa apologizes for “ruining” another birthday, but Anna reassures her that she did not ruin anything at all. Just as the tension begins to ease, the doors swing open to reveal Kristoff, Olaf, Sven, and a mountain of Snowgies, all there to surprise Anna and celebrate the day.

Elsa sneezes again and finally notices the little snow-people she has been inadvertently creating all day, a reminder of how easily things can snowball when feelings are running high. The birthday cake is brought out, and the celebrations continue for Princess Anna, the room filled with warmth despite the chilly weather outside. In a final, comic flourish, Elsa blows into an alphorn, but a sneeze sends a giant snowball careening across the scene, accidentally sending Hans, Santino Fontana overseas into a cart of manure, as he tended the stables.

Back in the comfort of her room, Elsa rests while Anna tends to her, echoing the day’s quiet, enduring truth: taking care of her beloved big sister is the best birthday present she could have asked for. Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven escort the Snowgies to Elsa’s former ice palace, where they are greeted by Marshmallow, the snow-giant doorkeeper, and the palace’s current owner, Paul Briggs. The Snowgies find a home with the fortress’s chilly guardians, and the story closes on a note of family warmth, resilience, and the small wonders that can arrive on a birthday—especially when they come from friends who know how to turn a moment of chaos into a memory.
