Young Anna and Elsa are seen playing joyfully in an enchanted forest created by Elsa's magical snow creations. Their parents, King Agnarr and Queen Iduna, enter and share a tale of a real enchanted forest Agnarr visited in his youth, detailing the elemental spirits they encountered.

The joyful tale shared by Agnarr takes a dark turn as he recalls the tragic conflict with the Northuldra tribe that led to his father’s death. The story hints at a mysterious being that saved Agnarr from a similar fate, revealing the dangers that lurked in the forest.

Fast forward to the present, Elsa hears a mysterious melodic voice that draws her attention and causes her distress. Meanwhile, Anna reassures Olaf about the changes in their lives, emphasizing the importance of their loved ones amidst uncertainty.

As the mysterious voice persists, Elsa is compelled to explore its source, raising questions about her powers and the secrets that lie within. She expresses her conflicting emotions in the song 'Into The Unknown,' signifying her desire for understanding and adventure.

Suddenly, Arendelle faces chaos including fierce winds and extinguished lanterns, prompting Elsa to take action to guide the citizens to safety. The group seeks counsel from Grand Pabbie who warns them that the elemental spirits are angered and need reconciliation.

Determined to confront the spirits, Elsa sets off with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven to the mystical Enchanted Forest. Upon arrival, they become lost in the thick mist, effectively separating from one another, creating tension in their mission.

As they navigate the forest, the group encounters elemental spirits, starting with the Air Spirit that creates a tornado, further separating them. Elsa attempts to quell its rage with her ice powers and feels flashes of past memories in the process.

They meet the Northuldra tribe led by Yelena and Arendellian soldiers. Olaf humorously recounts adventures they’ve shared, but they soon find themselves facing a fire attack which leads to a shocking discovery about the Fire Spirit revealing it as the small salamander, Bruni.

While continuing their journey, the group discovers the wreckage of Agnarr and Iduna's ship. Through memories brought forth by the water, Elsa learns of her parents' fateful journey to Ahtohallan and the sacrifices they made regarding her powers.

Determined to uncover the truth, Elsa decides to go to Ahtohallan alone, leading to a significant conflict with Anna and Olaf. This moment brings feelings of abandonment as Elsa sets off on the ice boat, propelled by her quest for understanding.

Elsa faces challenges posed by the Water Spirit, known as the Nokk, before finally taming it and following the mysterious voice into her family's past. Here, she uncovers the truth about Runeard's betrayal against the Northuldra.

In the wake of Elsa's silence, Anna realizes that destroying the dam is essential to save both her sister and Arendelle. With determination, she rallies the Earth Giants and convinces Mattias to help her in the mission to break the dam.

With a collaborative effort, Anna and the Earth Giants break the dam, sending a massive wave toward Arendelle. The act is a turning point that restores hope, as the waters are frozen by Elsa's return, saving the kingdom.

In a heartfelt reunion, Anna and Elsa embrace, filled with joy and relief after overcoming their trials. Kristoff finally proposes to Anna, marking a moment of love and celebration between the sisters and their friends.

Upon returning to Arendelle, Anna becomes queen while Elsa chooses to remain in the forest, committed to protecting her powers. The sisters vow to maintain their bond despite the distance, ensuring their love endures through time.
