Mason Pettits, a U.S. Army Special Forces operator, is injured during a failed assassination mission against dictator Juan Venegas. Following this botched operation, he is medically discharged from the military, transitioning into civilian life, marked by a struggle to cope with his new circumstances.

Years after his discharge, Mason finds himself stuck in a mundane job at a law firm, feeling disillusioned with his current life. This state of dissatisfaction is compounded by his worries about providing for his family, especially his daughter, Casey.

Old teammate Sebastian Earle reaches out to Mason with an offer for a well-paying job in private security. The assignment involves protecting journalist Claire Wellington, who is set to travel to Paldonia at the invitation of dictator Venegas, amidst political turmoil.

Mason's wife, Jenny, expresses her deep concerns about his new assignment, scared for their family's safety. She fears that Mason might not return home and Casey could grow up without her father if things go awry.

Upon arriving in Paldonia, the trio, including Mason, Claire, and Venegas, are ambushed by anti-Venegas militants. The attack leads to a chaotic escape into the jungle, highlighting the dangers of their situation.

Mason learns that the assailants were actually soldiers loyal to Venegas, orchestrated by his nephew Jorge and military advisor Colonel Jan Koehorst. This revelation puts Mason and Claire on high alert as the power dynamics shift.

Mason attempts to abandon Venegas in the jungle but finds himself ambushed by mercenaries. With Venegas's assistance, Mason is able to fend off the attackers, and they seek refuge in a sympathetic village.

Mason discovers from Sebastian that his true assignment is to assassinate Venegas. This shocking revelation puts him in a moral dilemma, questioning the motives behind the mission he has undertaken.

Jan's forces raid the village, capturing Claire and forcing Mason to flee without her. The urgency of the situation escalates as he and Venegas navigate the complexities of their survival in a hostile environment.

Mason and Venegas scheme to trade hostages in a bid to rescue Claire. During the tense negotiation, Mason learns that the uprising against Venegas is far from genuine, exposing a deeper political intrigue.

Venegas and Mason seek refuge in the presidential palace following their escape. They strategize how to confront the coup led by Jan, with the stakes rising higher for all involved.

In a dramatic showdown, Mason faces Jan, who confesses to the killings of Mason’s military team. A gunfight ensues, with Claire capturing everything on film, ultimately leading to Jan's defeat as Sebastian's team arrives.

With Jan defeated, Claire's footage revitalizes her career and Venegas agrees to step down to allow democratic elections in Paldonia. Mason returns to his family, having received a monetary reward that allows him to leave behind a job he despised.
