A love rivalry unfolds at the old merchant’s farm when two young men compete for the beautiful daughter. Meanwhile a petty thief steals the safe and absurdly blames the theft on a “mother‑in‑law’s dream.” A savvy grandmother orchestrates the courting from her living room, while a pair of jovial railway workers add music and merriment to the chaos.
