“Get ready to die, you rat! You sent me to the gallows for a measly two hundred bucks!” The detective, given only four hours before he must hand over his captured escaped killer, waits in the lobby of a Broadway theater where a musical is in progress. As the minutes tick by, tense dialogue erupts, and the film explores the uneasy rapport between the two men while also portraying the intersecting lives of audience members, theater staff, and the cast, all set against the theatrical backdrop.
