In 1910, golf pro Mac Moore celebrates the birth of his child at Mission Country Club. He hopes to raise a champion golfer, initially ordering champagne, but upon learning the baby is a girl, he switches to beer.

Two decades later, Lora enters the club tournament but loses to Ruth Van Horn and contemplates giving up golf. The setback tests her resolve, but it doesn’t end her pursuit of the sport.

Jerry Downes and his friend Jack Martin arrive at the club, injecting new energy into the scene. Lora sees Jerry and decides to stay in the game.

Jerry begins giving Lora golf lessons, and their sessions are punctuated by light banter and musical moments. The coaching helps Lora sharpen her game and stay motivated.

Jack meets Lora's best friend Angie but is too flustered to make a move. The moment hints at a budding romance that threads through the story.

Babs and Dinty deny any romantic feelings for one another, keeping their relationship strictly platonic. Their dynamic adds a touch of humor to the group.

A title card announces the scene change to a masquerade party across the border. At Ruth's house in Mexico, Angie sings 'I Want to Be Bad' in a lavish production, with dancers and dramatic effects. Lora gets drunk, sings a reprise of the number, and passes out; Jerry reprises 'A Peach of a Pair' and they drive home.

Effie, the girdle magnate, and Jack infiltrate the ladies locker room disguised as plumbers to recover a family ring Jack gave to Angie, in exchange for Effie's girdles being stocked in stores. The caper advances their schemes and brings the lovers closer to a payoff.

At another tournament, Lora, still upset with Jerry, gives him the cold shoulder; he walks away, but Jack coaxes him back into the fold. The tension sets the stage for a later reconciliation.

On the 18th hole, Jerry steps in as Lora's caddy and she wins the tournament. After the win, Jerry walks away again, leaving Lora to savor the victory on her own.

Jack and Angie encourage Jerry and Lora to make up so they can plan a double wedding, with the moment underscored by a reprise of 'A Peach of a Pair'.

The timeline closes with the couples looking toward a future that blends golf, friendship, and romance as they plan their double wedding and continue to share the stage and the sport they love.
