Diamonds are mined in impoverished African mines, often by poor laborers. They pass through numerous hands, undergoing cleaning and aggregation before reaching their final destination.

Reporter Cassie interviews Laura Quinn, the only female manager of the London Diamond Corporation. During the interview, Laura reveals she stole a massive 168-carat diamond, shocking Cassie.

The narrative shifts back to 1960, where Laura is a dedicated manager at the London Diamond Corporation. Despite her hard work, she faces sexism and is repeatedly passed over for promotions.

Laura discovers from janitor Hobbs that she is about to be fired. He reveals that her innovative ideas are not being recognized by the Company President, who is dismissive due to her gender.

Hobbs proposes a plan to Laura to steal diamonds to secure their financial futures without drawing too much attention. Laura, desperate and feeling old in the competitive work environment, agrees to the plan.

At a social event, Laura attempts to gain access to the vault combination codes by spying on President MKA. She successfully retrieves the vault codes from MKA's safe after observing him open it.

Laura and Hobbs utilize a camera security system weakness to carry out their heist. Hobbs successfully manages to steal nearly two tons of diamonds and demands a ransom of 100 million pounds.

Sinclair, the head of the insurance syndicate, is coerced into paying the ransom to prevent financial ruin. This event escalates tensions as Quinn is left in a precarious position without agreeing to the ransom scheme.

The London Diamond Corporation hires a private investigator, Mr. Finch, to delve into the diamond theft. He begins to closely scrutinize both Hobbs and Laura for any leads on the case.

After the theft becomes public, President MKA suffers a heart attack due to the stress of the situation. Quinn faces her emotional turmoil when she inadvertently loses a diamond earring, leading her to seek answers in the sewers.

In the sewers, Laura confronts Hobbs, who pulls a gun on her but reveals his true intentions behind the theft. His vendetta against the insurance syndicate head for his wife's death complicates matters further.

The ransom is ultimately paid, leading to the demise of Sinclair, the insurance head. Hobbs subsequently departs, leaving Laura to grapple with the aftermath of their plan and her potential legal consequences.

Despite discovering evidence that could implicate Laura, Mr. Finch opts not to pursue charges against her. He feels a personal connection to her and chooses to protect her instead.

Back in the present, Laura reveals to Cassie that she resigned and received a letter from a bank in Switzerland. She describes how she channeled the rest of the ransom money into charitable donations.
