Fantastic Four

In 2007, a young Reed Richards (played by Miles Teller) captivates his classroom with ambitious talk of a Quantum-based human Teleporter. He passionately explains that the era of using supercomputers to transmit Quantum information through space is upon them, asserting it won’t be long before they can transport a human being entirely. His classmate Ben Grimm (portrayed by Jamie Bell) is inspired by Reed’s visionary ideas.

After some time, Ben discovers Reed in his family’s salvage yard, searching for a power converter. This sparks a partnership in which Ben quickly proves himself as the mechanical genius for Reed’s experiments. One night, Reed successfully teleports a toy car, retrieving rocks from the destination, hinting at their potential.

Fast forward seven years, and both Reed and Ben have collaborated on their prototype teleporter, which eventually garners the interest of Professor Franklin Storm (played by Reg E. Cathey), who heads the Baxter Foundation, a government-funded hub for young scientific prodigies. Impressed by Reed’s demonstration at a school science fair, Professor Storm recognizes that Reed has crafted a quantum field capable of stable inter-dimensional travel. He emphasizes the urgency, as the foundation seeks tangible outcomes from its groundbreaking research initiatives to provide Earth’s people with access to infinite resources.

Reed is recruited to collaborate with Storm’s children: Sue Storm (depicted by Kate Mara) and the impulsive technician Johnny Storm (played by Michael B. Jordan), along with their reluctant associate Victor Von Doom (portrayed by Toby Kebbell). Initially, Victor harbors doubts about the project, his discontent stemming from a bitter fallout with the foundation. Nevertheless, when Reed successfully rebuilds Victor’s designs, Victor is persuaded to rejoin the team due to his unresolved feelings for Sue.

As Sue develops environmental suits for inter-dimensional travel, she questions Reed’s reckless methodology, warning about the dire consequences of their tests that may tear apart the very fabric of space-time. Despite voicing his opposition, Victor is driven by ambition to be the first to explore the new world. Meanwhile, after an incident involving an illegal drag race, Johnny is forced to join the project, despite his reservations.

Their ambitions culminate in a significant breakthrough when they successfully teleport a chimpanzee to another dimension and bring it back unharmed, revealing footage of a pristine world filled with mystery. However, with great ambition comes unforeseen consequences. The facility’s leadership, namely Dr. Allen (played by Tim Blake Nelson), outlines plans for a NASA expedition to Planet Zero—a parallel dimension the team has now dubbed. Frustrated at being left out, Reed, Johnny, Ben, and Victor defy authority and embark on an unauthorised journey to Planet Zero, during which Victor’s reckless curiosity leads to disaster.

The ground erupts around them, leading to chaos as Victor falls behind, disappearing into the landscape.

The resulting explosion alters the molecular structure of Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben, granting them extraordinary abilities: Reed can stretch his body, Sue can render herself invisible and conjure force fields, Johnny can engulf himself in flames and fly, and Ben transforms into a giant with rock-like skin, bestowing him with immense strength.

Subsequently, they are placed under government surveillance as experiments are conducted to comprehend their newfound powers. Consumed by guilt, Reed flees in search of a remedy. A year later, he’s gone rogue, having developed a suit to control his abilities. Yet, the United States military captures him, aided by the transformed Ben, now serving as a military asset alongside Johnny and Sue.

Reed is presented before Dr. Allen again, who convinces him to open another portal to Planet Zero, promising resources to aid in his quest for a cure. This leads to the unsettling discovery of Victor, now a terror known as “Doom,” who seeks to return to Earth with malicious intent, believing he must destroy the human race to recreate Planet Zero as his own.

As Doom goes on a rampage, slaughtering those in his path, Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben pursue him, culminating in a climactic confrontation. After a fierce fight, their teamwork pays off, and Ben manages to send Doom spiraling into the energy beam of a portal, effectively disintegrating him.

Returning to Earth, the group is honored for their bravery and efforts, receiving a new base of operations from the military. United in purpose, they dedicate themselves to using their powers to protect humanity, adopting the heroic title of the “Fantastic Four.”
