In 1998, Eric Bottler reunites with his high school friends at a lively Halloween costume party. The energy is palpable as they share laughs and reminisce about their shared love for *Star Wars*, though Bottler senses a divide due to their diverging life paths.

During the party, Bottler learns from Hutch and Windows that their friend Linus is terminally ill, with only months to live. Overwhelmed with emotion, Bottler realizes that they need to do something special for Linus before it's too late.

Bottler proposes to his friends that they should fulfill Linus's lifelong dream of breaking into Skywalker Ranch to steal an early print of *Star Wars: Episode I*. The plan seems ludicrous, yet it becomes their mission the next day.

The crew, eager to embrace adventure, piles into Hutch's van. As they set off on their cross-country trek, they share stories that rekindle the bonds of friendship, setting the stage for their daring escapade.

En route to the Ranch, Hutch's temper flares when he decides to confront a group of Trekkies in Riverside, Iowa. This leads to an unexpected brawl, bringing chaos to their already reckless adventure.

The group encounters famous film critic Harry Knowles, who becomes an unexpected ally. He shares crucial information about gaining access to Skywalker Ranch, giving them renewed hope for their mission.

Their journey takes a turn for the worse when they get arrested for a petty crime. Zoe comes to their rescue, joining the group and adding her wit and determination to the wild chase.

The group's escapades lead them to Las Vegas, where the atmosphere is electric with potential mischief. While some of the crew pursue romantic interests, Bottler and Linus get closer to their goal as they meet a key figure in their quest.

In a stroke of luck, they meet the legendary William Shatner, who provides them with vital directions to Skywalker Ranch. However, their revelry is short-lived as they face another confrontation with the Trekkies.

Upon finally arriving at Skywalker Ranch, their hopes are dashed when they are swiftly apprehended by security. The Head of Security receives a call from George Lucas, setting the stage for a surprising turn of events.

To prove their loyalty to *Star Wars*, the group is put through a quiz by the Head of Security. Successfully answering the questions, they earn the right for Linus to have a private viewing of the film.

As Linus watches *Episode I*, the rest of the group reflects around a campfire, bonding over their shared experiences and cherishing the moments that brought them together. It is a time of both joy and sorrow as they recognize the gravity of the situation.

Fast forward six months, Bottler and the gang reunite to camp out for the movie's official premiere. They reminisce about Linus and toast to his memory, highlighting how their lives have changed yet still remained connected.

The characters reflect on their growth since the mission. Bottler pursues a career in comic book artistry, Hutch establishes his own detailing business, and a romance begins to bloom between Windows and Zoe.
