Follow a team of scientists as they escort climbers from Everest’s 17,600‑foot Base Camp through the corpse‑strewn Death Zone to the summit, a half‑mile above sea level. The film examines whether extreme cold, wind, sun and oxygen deprivation cause lasting damage to brain and body, revisits the 1996 disaster, and reveals how rational decisions can turn fatal, especially when a climber’s respiratory illness worsens on the descent.
