Enchanted Journey

A carrier pigeon named Pippo arrives at Glikko's apartment and tells him about the vast North Forest where chipmunks live. Glikko is convinced this is his true home, while his sister Fluff remains skeptical. The news sets Glikko dreaming of a new life beyond his building.

Pippo returns to warn Glikko about the dangers on the journey, including foxes and hawks. A neighbor's cat stalks the pair and attacks but misses, fleeing into the shadows. Fluff helps Glikko escape by sending him toward the city, and he slips away wearing their owner's hat.

That night, Glikko saves a sewer rat named Gamba from an oncoming car. Gamba asks for help to defeat a gang of house rats, and Glikko agrees to join. Together with his new sewer allies, they beat the rats and celebrate with a party.

The next morning, Gamba leads Glikko toward his destination, but they arrive at a zoo instead of the forest. Glikko realizes the North Forest remains unreachable for now. The discovery marks a setback but also a new lead.

Glikko meets Zipzip, who shares tales of the North Forest, and he meets Nono, a female chipmunk eager to go there. Glikko leaves the zoo and Nono follows, eager to join him. He hesitates at first, but he agrees to take her along on the journey.

They feast on persimmon fruits from a tree, but a black cat guarding it attacks. Nono injures her leg; Glikko escapes and goes back to find her. He eventually finds her and vows to keep her safe.

The next morning they plan to cross the fields toward the mountains, but Nono catches a fever. Glikko leaves to gather acorns to help her, and returns carrying a stack of acorns. He reminds her that he'll stay with her no matter what.

The pair meet a hibernating squirrel who flirts with Nono before being snatched by a hawk. They try to escape, and Glikko distracts the hawk by luring it into a thicket. The plan succeeds for the moment, but the hawk remains a constant threat.

A storm drives them to a river boat that carries them toward the sea. By the next morning they reach the open water, and they land on the shore to play and catch sight of the distant mountains ahead. The journey toward the forest continues with renewed hope.

At the mountains, winter is coming and the hawk attacks again. A cunning fox intervenes, battles the hawk, and kills it, while eyeing the chipmunks ominously. The fox's presence hints at future danger as they move on.

The following night the chipmunks glimpse the North Forest and begin heading in. They press forward together, wary but hopeful. The forest's edge feels bittersweet as winter nears.

During a daytime snowstorm, Nono shares how she and her mother were captured by humans and taken to a zoo, which led to her mother's death. Nono grows weak, and Glikko finds bark and other sustenance to keep them going. The bond between them tightens as they press onward.

The next morning Pippo arrives and confirms they have reached the North Forest. They move toward the other resident chipmunks to reunite with the community. Relief and renewed purpose fill them.

In the forest, the other chipmunks scatter from a pursuing fox. Glikko is forced to make a desperate leap at a cliff's edge as the fox closes in. The fox claws at him, tearing his bandanna, but Glikko lands safely on the far side while the fox falls to its doom.

The chipmunks celebrate with a feast after the near-miss. Pippo decides to return to the city and tell Fluff about the Forest. He flies off, leaving the chipmunks to their new home as winter fades and spring returns.
