Ahab, the powerful Israelite king, falls under the sway of Jezebel, daughter of the Sidonian monarch, abandoning Yahweh for Baal worship. At her urging, he executes Israel’s prophets and replaces them with Baal’s false seers. Yet the prophet Elijah, empowered by the true God, confronts the royal couple and their idolatry.
