In the final film of Ulrike Ottinger’s Berlin Trilogy, after Ticket of No Return and Freak Orlando, Delphine Seyrig plays a twisted version of Fritz Lang’s villain Dr. Mabuse, now heading a powerful media empire. The company creates fame by inventing a celebrity—the wealthy, handsome playboy Dorian Gray—then publicly destroys him, turning his rise and fall into sensational headlines.
