Benjamin Glonti returns from studying in St. Petersburg to his Georgian homeland. He slides back into carefree revelry, neglecting debts and patients alike. His sister Sofiko worries and hatches a plan to straighten him out by arranging a potential match with Mary, the daughter of a wealthy local doctor.
