Six new sweet‑song numbers kick off the story. Burlesque queen Doll Face Carroll is rejected from a Broadway audition for lacking culture. Her manager Mike plots to give her both culture and publicity by commissioning an autobiography, hiring a ghostwriter. He doesn’t anticipate the spark between Doll Face and the writer, leading them toward more than a book.
