Do Re Mi

Do, burdened by heavy debt, lies about bereavement to cheat his father-in-law. The deceit ruins his reputation and his marriage, driving him to leave town in search of opportunities in the city.

Re accidentally lets a Lone Ranger pretender burglarize his house. The incident triggers a rift with his wife, eventually leading to divorce and him being expelled from the home.

Mi borrows two Ringgits from his disgusted girlfriend to fund his city journey. He then tries to work as a housekeeper in a mansion, fantasizing about owning the place, but is chased out by the mansion owner.

Mi boards a bus toward the city seeking work and a better life, heading for the labour office where opportunities await. Along the way he contemplates a fresh start and the possibilities ahead.

At the labour office, Re laments being chased by his wife and his own misfortunes. Do misreads his tale as an insult to himself, nearly sparking a fight, but they cool down and are joined by Mi, forming a trio with a shared goal to chase a thief.

The trio gives chase to the running snatcher through the streets and corners him. They hand the thief over to a police officer and receive a reward from a grateful young woman, cementing their budding friendship.

Having proven their teamwork, the three men introduce themselves and agree to stay friends. They decide to pool their efforts and support one another in the search for a living.

They stay at Mi's run-down hut and use the reward money to start selling toothbrushes. The first sale is made with the mansion owner watching, hinting at both small success and lingering doubt from others.

Dissatisfied with toothbrush sales, they seek larger capital by borrowing money from Mi's girlfriend who lives next door. They also borrow a guitar from the house, negotiating with the girlfriend's father to secure funds.

With capital secured, they become street performers selling snake oil and find a surprising amount of success. Their early profits allow them to repay Mi's girlfriend and celebrate their progress with a night out.

During the night out, Re runs into his night club hostess ex-wife at a club and feels a surge of disgust. He walks away from the scene, unsettled by the reminder of his failed life choices.

The next day, the trio resumes their snake oil sales but are confronted by a mob of angry customers who destroy their goods. The incident exposes them as frauds and leaves their fate unresolved, ending on a tense cliffhanger.
