Die Hard

On Christmas Eve, NYPD Detective John McClane arrives in Los Angeles, hoping to reconcile with his estranged wife Holly. He is driven to the Nakatomi Corporation's holiday party, where tensions from their past begin to resurface.

During the festive celebrations, the party is violently interrupted when Hans Gruber and his team of armed radicals take control of the Nakatomi Plaza. The guests are captured, and the building is sealed off, cutting all communications with the outside world.

As the situation unfolds, it becomes clear that Gruber's goal is not just to hold hostages but to steal an enormous sum of money—$640 million in bearer bonds. This financial heist escalates the stakes for everyone involved.

After an unsuccessful attempt to obtain the vault's access code from executive Joseph Takagi, Gruber coldly executes him. McClane, hidden nearby, witnesses the brutal act, which strengthens his resolve to thwart the terrorists.
