Sefer, a fisherman from Mitari in Rize, loves Zekiye, who returns his feelings but refuses to marry him, calling him rude. In a burst of pride he kidnaps her; mortified, Zekiye runs away. Sefer cannot locate her until he hears she has fallen into prostitution in Istanbul. He travels there, finds her, and, determined to restore his honor, intends to kill her.
