The SAW wrestling event takes place in a remote village that serves as both the venue and a character in the story. The film is set in the late 1980s, capturing the independent wrestling scene when underground promotions operated outside mainstream channels. The Prophet, played by Chris Jericho, is a former wrestler who became a cult leader revered by his followers as 'The Leader.' His violent past with the wrestling establishment and personal vendettas drive the most brutal acts of the night, as he manipulates both his cult followers and the wrestlers trapped in his community.

A demonic presence haunts the wrestling event, tied to the controversy surrounding the ring and its participants. The climactic Spirit Match escalates beyond physical combat, and a large white demon forces the survivors to confront an otherworldly threat that refuses to stay inside the ropes.

The promised payday masks a scheme that fractures loyalties and fuels backstabbing among the wrestlers.
