That evening, Ivan brings flowers to Katya's birthday party and unexpectedly joins the Kuznetsovs' inner circle. As the conversation turns to modern times and youth, Katya confession that her dreams diverge from her parents' aspirations. She breaks down, runs outside, and asks Ivan not to contact her anymore.

Back in the street, Katya's plea lingers, and Ivan is left to confront the consequences of their split. He struggles to reconcile his feelings with her decision to cut off contact. The breakup marks a turning point for both characters.
