Lewis, a gay author of romance novels, pens a popular gay‑issues column under the pseudonym “Zippy Grimes” to avoid alienating his largely female readership, as he has not yet come out. The piece sparks a flood of responses from closeted gay men. He meets several of them and, compelled by their stories, finally reveals his own sexuality.
