Come As You Are

Lars, Philip, and Jozef are young men in their twenties who are physically disabled but continue to live independently with their parents' care. Jozef has severe vision impairment, Philip is paralyzed with limited use of his limbs, and Lars suffers from a terminal brain tumor causing paralysis. Despite their conditions, they are determined to pursue their personal desires, especially to lose their virginity.

The friends plan a trip to a Spanish brothel that caters to disabled clients, disguising their true purpose from their parents by claiming they are traveling to Bordeaux vineyards. Their goal is to fulfill their wish of losing their virginity despite societal and familial expectations.

Initially, the parents are supportive but hesitant, especially when Lars learns that he has an aggressive cancer and is forbidden from traveling. The boys decide to proceed with their plans regardless of their parents' objections, illustrating their independence and resolve.

A nurse originally assigned to accompany them refuses to go without parental permission but recommends a woman named Claude as a replacement. The boys negotiate with her via email over the costs, with Philippe agreeing to cover most expenses using his savings.

The friends set out on a challenging journey through France into Spain with the help of a young woman serving as their driver and nurse. They manage to leave their parents' supervision quietly, despite their efforts to keep the trip secret.

The parents eventually realize that their children have left on the trip and catch up with them along the way. This confrontation creates tension but ultimately leads to the friends convincing their parents to allow them to pursue their dreams.

During the trip, the friends discover that their driver and nurse, Claude, is a woman. They initially find her unattractive and rigid, and suspect she doesn't speak Dutch, which allows them to speak freely about her. Despite their impressions, Claude proves to be capable and dedicated.

Claude demonstrates her competence by saving Jozef when he falls overboard during the trip. Her pragmatic attitude is revealed when she mentions that it’s not good for business if clients die during the process. She also defends Lars from an aggressive individual, showing her protective side.

Throughout the journey, the logistical challenges and interactions foster unexpected bonds between the friends and Claude. Despite initial misunderstandings and prejudices, their shared experiences deepen their connection and mutual respect.

The trip culminates in a moment of acceptance, where the friends realize the importance of companionship and the strength found in overcoming obstacles together. Their journey becomes more than just a quest for intimacy; it’s a path toward self-discovery and friendship.
