Two young lovers, Yun Keng and Chime Shuang, belong to rival clans and keep their romance secret. When Master Diao, head of the Great Banner Clan, discovers the affair, he orders his son’s execution by quartering. Yun’s hot‑tempered brother Yun Zheng and their ally Ti Zhong Tang beg the elder to spare him, but Diao refuses. Ti knocks Yun Keng unconscious, substitutes him with a brother who is swiftly killed, averting the execution. Master Diao and Ti conceal the truth, and Ti pledges to locate Chime Shuang so the couple can reunite and restore the Great Banner Clan.
