Children of the Corn: Revelation

Jamie Lowell travels to Omaha after her grandmother stops answering calls. The apartment building sits next to a cornfield and appears abandoned, save for two strange children wandering about. She learns her grandmother has received an eviction notice.

Jamie questions Jerry Ulrich, hoping for help locating her grandmother. He offers little information and seems uncooperative, which deepens the sense that something is wrong. The two silent children linger nearby throughout the exchange.

Jamie visits the local grocery store and encounters the two quiet children who do not speak to her. A priest stands outside the street, staring at the scene with a fixed gaze. The unsettling mood hints at a dark secret behind Gatlin.

Back at the apartment, Jamie discovers a message telling her to go home. The warning reinforces that danger is closing in on her grandmother's place. She resolves to search deeper for answers about the missing grandmother and the strange town.

Jamie investigates the basement and finds a strange crop of vegetables growing in the dark. Laughter from unseen children echoes through the space, and a man with a gun warns Jamie to stay out. The basement scene establishes a hidden, malevolent force at work.

Jamie meets two other tenants, an old man in a wheelchair who swears at everyone and a young woman named Tiffany. Their presence adds to the building's eerie atmosphere. Tiffany's quiet glamour contrasts with the dangers lurking in the cornfields.

Jerry invites Jamie to a rooftop barbecue, which initially appears routine. He bites into the corn and finds blood inside, shocking everyone. The two children push him off the roof, and he vanishes from sight.

Jamie has a nightmare about her grandmother being lured away to railroad tracks by a strange voice. Detective Armbrister later reveals that Jamie's grandmother was part of a religious cult as a child, led by a boy-preacher named Abel, who orchestrated a deadly tent fire. The family tragedy is tied to Gatlin's dark past.

Tiffany returns home and is attacked in the bath by a corn-wielding child who strangles her and takes the body away. Det. Armbrister and Jamie arrive but fail to notice Tiffany's body lying nearby in the cornfield. The incident deepens the sense that the children control everything.

The old man in the wheelchair is attacked by the children and pushed through a stair balcony, falling to his death. No one seems to realize his death immediately, deepening the town's sense of dread. Jamie and Armbrister continue their investigation with mounting urgency.

Jamie returns to the grocery store to find it ransacked and a girl wearing her grandmother's hat roaming the aisles. She discovers the store owner's severed head inside a drink cooler, a shocking sign of the town's danger. The discovery increases Jamie's resolve to confront the mystery.

A man with a gun fleeing Gatlin is chased by the children and trapped in an elevator. They terrify him to the point of a fatal heart attack, and his body is dragged away. Jamie and Armbrister's sense of safety continues to erode as the threat closes in.

A priest arrives and explains Gatlin's history and the creature called He Who Walks Behind the Rows, described as the devil. He warns Jamie that her grandmother is dead and that she must leave or be killed. The exposition links the town's haunting to a malevolent, otherworldly force.

More children arrive and take Jamie down to the basement where corn stalks have grown. Abel appears, and Jamie's grandmother is revealed to be one of the children, speaking in an older voice. The group surrounds Jamie and she pretends to join them as a distraction.

Jamie pretends to join the cult to create a distraction and triggers a gas explosion. Abel survives the blast, and Jamie is bound by corn stalks. Det. Armbrister arrives, and they escape as the apartment explodes, destroying the corn; it is implied the children's souls are freed and Abel is killed.
