What Happens in Caviar: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Caviar (2019) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Nadja, Margarita Breitkreiz, hailing from Russia, resides in Vienna and works as an interpreter for the oligarch Igor Mikhail Evlanov. He harbors a grandiose plan to build a luxurious villa on the Schwedenbrücke that would echo Florence's Ponte Vecchio, a dream Nadja tries to steer him away from, sensing the risks and expenses it would entail.

In this tense setting, Nadja's confidante Vera, Daria Nosik, becomes inadvertently drawn into Igor's scheme through her Austrian husband Klaus Georg Friedrich. Klaus betrays Nadja's trust, keeping crucial information from her and enabling some of Igor's maneuvers, a betrayal that only strengthens Nadja's resolve.

Teresa, Nadja's children's nanny, Sabrina Reiter, proposes gathering solid evidence of Igor and Klaus's misdeeds, hoping to curb the power plays and protect Nadja. Klaus capitulates to Igor's demands for funding and citizenship, not realizing that Teresa and Nadja are quietly collecting the truth, stoking a patient investigation.

As the scandal grows, Vera uncovers Klaus's concealed wealth in Liechtenstein, a turning point that shifts the balance of power and accelerates the unraveling of Igor's scheme.

Following Klaus's dismissal by Igor, a bribery scandal begins to surface, with Zech Joseph Lorenz implicated in the process. Zech denies involvement, yet mounting evidence points toward him.

With Nadja taking a pivotal role in exposing the corruption, Vera reclaiming the hidden millions, and the circle of trust between Nadja and Vera deepening, they celebrate their renewed friendship and the prosperity that comes from confronting corruption together.
