Marina, a striking young woman caring for leprous parents, marries a shipyard owner to flee an institution. Relocating to a seaside village, she becomes the target of gossip and is assaulted by her husband’s lover. When her husband drowns in a boating accident, a charismatic sailor appears, and Marina is blackmailed over the secret of her family’s disease.
