“‘We the police will never surrender! We will stand here to the death! Bukit Kepong will be our graves!’—the rallying cry that frames this film’s dramatization of the February 23, 1950 assault by communist insurgents on a rural Federation of Malaya Police post at Bukit Kepong, Muar, Johor. Set during the height of the First Malayan Emergency (1948‑1960), it portrays the bravery and sacrifice of the police defenders.
