The villagers, led by Andrew MacLaren, prepare for the wedding of his daughter Jean to Charlie Dalrymple. Amidst the celebrations, Harried, Archie Beaton's son, struggles with his unrequited affections for Jean, finding solace in Maggie Anderson's gentle company.

During their visit to the MacLaren home, Fiona warmly invites Tommy and Jeff to relax and share a meal. As they enjoy the hospitality, Jeff becomes infatuated with Meg Brockie's charms, leading him to take a romantic stroll in the enchanting forest.
