In a dense, middle‑class stretch of London, daily life hums along crowded streets and quiet underground stations, but beneath the polite veneer a restless tension lingers. The neighbourhood feels both intimate and anonymous, a place where ambition, desperation and fleeting kindness intersect on every corner. The film’s tone is grounded in social realism, letting the city’s muted colors and muted sounds amplify the characters’ inner unease while hinting at deeper currents of guilt and longing.

Mark is a well‑to‑do city banker whose polished existence is suddenly unsettled by a small, seemingly inconsequential encounter with a homeless man. Married to Laura, who is expecting their first child, he begins to question the hollow comforts of his affluent world and feels an unexpected pull toward the people living on its margins. His growing curiosity leads him into the realm of social work, where his privilege collides with the raw reality of those he once overlooked.

Across the block, Robert has just walked out of prison and takes up residence in a modest hostel. There he meets Michelle, a pregnant woman fleeing an abusive marriage, and the two form a fragile bond that mirrors the delicate balance of trust and survival in their lives. In the same building, a Nigerian immigrant family—Yemi, a journalist‑turned‑waiter; his wife Itshe; and their young daughter—navigate the challenges of new beginnings while clutching a hopeful plan to reunite with a family member back home.

The hostel also houses Zoe, a teenage runaway, and introduces Sally, a social worker who acts as a bridge between these disparate worlds. Their interactions create a web of connections that quietly probes what it means to be compassionate in a society split by class and circumstance.
