George Formby’s feature debut is a lively musical comedy with his wife Beryl. He plays John Willie, a cheeky shoeshine boy at the upscale Crestonian Hotel, in love with the scullery maid (Beryl). After causing chaos he redeems himself by headlining the hotel’s Gala Cabaret, singing “Why Don’t Women Like Me?”, “Sitting on the Ice in the Ice Rink” and “I Could Make a Good Living at That”.
