Bob Trevino Likes It

In the film’s final act Lily’s newfound friendship with the kindly construction manager Bob Tre­vino is brutally cut short. After a tense showdown with her abusive father—who once again tries to manipulate Lily and even asks her to borrow money from Bob—Bob quits his job following a heated dispute with his boss and decides to pursue his long‑neglected hobby of astronomy. Just as he is about to buy a telescope, he collapses from a heart attack and dies before Lily can see him one last time.

Lily, still reeling from her father’s latest attack, spends the night at his house, discovers a photo album in which he has erased her from every picture, and finally confronts him, unleashing a long‑suppressed rage that culminates in a cathartic visit to a rage‑room. Though devastated by Bob’s sudden death, Lily’s priority shifts to honoring his memory. She attends his funeral, supported by her coworker Daphne, and there she receives an unexpected gift from Bob’s wife Jeanie: a painstakingly assembled scrapbook chronicling the friendship between Lily and Bob. The album includes the poem Lily sent him—confirming that he read and cherished it—and ends with a handwritten note welcoming Lily into their family.

Through this closing tableau the film underscores its central theme of abandonment and healing. Bob’s sincere, self‑less connection gave Lily the paternal affection she had been starved of, while Lily’s presence brought warmth back into Bob’s quiet life.
