Blood Monkey

Anthropological professor Conrad Hamilton and his team venture into a remote Thai jungle to study a mysterious primate. They hope to find the missing link between humans and apes, but the mission turns deadly as the group attempts to capture a specimen. Only Hamilton and his assistant Chenne survive the disaster and continue their work from the jungle camp.

A group of college anthropology students are flown in and dropped at the edge of the jungle by a guide who warns them that 'bad things' lie ahead. They set up a camp and prepare for the expedition, unaware of the dangers inside. The guide declines to go deeper, leaving them to begin their own trek.

During the first night, a creature lurks nearby and launches an attack on the camp. Chenne intervenes, scaring the attacker away with a flare and buying the students a temporary pause from danger. The incident foreshadows the threat that follows them into the valley.

Chenne leads the students from the edge of the jungle to Hamilton’s camp, consolidating the two groups. Hamilton begins to lay the groundwork for a larger project by highlighting the potential of an uncharted valley. He confiscates the students' phones and distributes information bracelets with emergency contacts.

Hamilton speaks of an uncharted valley with career-launching potential and instructs Chenne to confiscate the students’ mobile phones. Each member receives a bracelet containing emergency contact information, enabling Hamilton to monitor them as they move toward the valley entrance. The group prepares for the descent into the unknown.

The team rappels down into the valley, during which Josh sustains an injury that complicates their descent. The rough terrain and unknown threats compound the risk as they push deeper into the canyon-like environment. Hamilton continues to push the group toward exploration despite the hazards.

On their first night in the valley, Hamilton passes around a primate skull whose enormous size unsettles the students. A bloody survivor from the original research team appears, and Hamilton and Chenne care for him as he dies. The survivor’s grim appearance hints that the valley is a place where warnings are meant to be heeded.

Sydney, one of the students, is dragged away into the jungle during a late-night visit to the outhouse and disappears. The group is shaken as danger seems to stalk them from the shadows. The loss foreshadows the fate awaiting others in the valley.

The following morning, Hamilton reveals that Sydney approached him frightened and wished to go home, and he had Chenne take her out of the jungle. This explanation masks more sinister actions as the group continues to move through the valley. The students sense the strain and growing control Hamilton asserts.

Chenne pulls Sydney from the group, dragging her through the jungle and leaving her battered and isolated. The decision isolates the student and demonstrates the breakdown of ethical boundaries under survival pressure. Sydney's fate becomes increasingly perilous as danger closes in.

As the group advances, a creature corners Sydney and kills her amid the chaos. The loss further destabilizes the remaining students as they realize the true scale of danger in the valley. The threat of the primate-like beasts becomes undeniable.

Hamilton continues to secretly monitor the students through hidden bracelet chips while the group resolves to steal his AK-47 to regain control. Seth begins leaving a trail by tying cloth to trees to map their path and avoid being caught. The power struggle within the group intensifies as they fight for survival.

During a night of foul rain, Josh is yanked from his tent. Greg rushes to help but Chenne shoots him accidentally and ties him to a tree as bait. A monster then stalks the camp, killing Chenne and mauling Greg, leaving the group more exposed to the threat.

Hamilton confronts Seth amid the chaos and knocks him unconscious. He finds Dani and Amy and orders Dani to document everything on camera, attempting to preserve a record. He follows Sydney’s bracelet to a severed arm and discovers a rigged tree; the bamboo trap is triggered and impales him.

Dani and Amy reach a cave believing they are the last survivors. Seth has been killed by the surrounding threat, and Amy reveals that the attackers are apes with fangs. More apes appear, and Amy is killed as Dani fights for her life.
