Arriving in a Spanish village, a young doctor notes the locals’ secretive behavior. Mocked by youths, he meets Gonzalo, an unofficial leader who tells him to leave. He befriends the village schoolteacher, and their romance provokes Gonzalo’s violent jealousy. The doctor learns a drug‑addict raid during a village feast years earlier killed several, including Gonzalo’s son, prompting his crusade against addicts.
