Blood and Concrete

Joey steals a television from drug dealer Mort in Los Angeles, but Mort catches him and stabs him before chasing him away. Joey bleeds and flees to a cemetery, where he meets Mona, an unsuccessful singer contemplating suicide. Mona helps him and offers to shelter him.

At Mona's apartment, she treats Joey's wounds and invites him to stay. She is an unsuccessful singer on the verge of giving up on past relationships, adding a fragile dynamic to their alliance. Joey begins to trust her despite the danger surrounding them.

Hank visits Mort's house and finds Mort dead in the swimming pool. With Joey's fingerprints everywhere, he suspects the young man may be involved but realises Joey could be innocent. Hank asks Joey to help him locate Spuntz, believing that solving the case could protect him.

Bart Daniels drags Joey to Mort's house, where Spuntz questions him about the missing package. Spuntz explains that the package contains Libido, a hallucinogenic drug that drives up profits, and Bart begins to threaten him with Russian roulette. After several tense moments, Joey uses Bart's gun to escape.

Joey finds Mona and gets her into a stolen car, telling her they must leave town. Mona argues that he would have to go alone, and they end up returning to their respective places instead of fleeing together. The moment shows the growing strain of their alliance under pressure from Spuntz and Hank.

The next day at a restaurant, Joey learns from a contact that Spuntz has a million dollars invested in the missing package. He goes to Sammy Rhodes to seek help locating the package, but Sammy refuses and tells him to get out of the situation. The tension rises as the hunt continues.

Mona calls Joey to come home, but Hank reappears at the restaurant. The contact is found dead with a bullet in the forehead, and Hank accuses Joey of meeting Spuntz. Joey explains that Spuntz kills anyone who has the drugs to maintain his monopoly.

Walking home, Joey is grabbed by Bart and forced to join Spuntz and Bart for dinner. Spuntz warns Joey about betrayal and leaves him alone with Bart. Joey suggests they might team up to outlast Hank and Spuntz, but Bart threatens him with forced sex.

Joey arrives at Mona's flat and spots a pill handed to her by Lance, her ex. Lance confesses that he got it from Mort long ago, and Joey threatens him as the danger surrounding them escalates.

Bart chases Joey in a car and forces him toward the restaurant, where a young man Joey had spoken to earlier is brought into the plot. Bart shoots the young man in the forehead, and Joey flees the scene.

Joey sits by Mort's body and realizes the drug bags have been swallowed by the pool's filter pump. He packs them into a suitcase and goes home with Mona, insisting they must leave.

Spuntz and Bart threaten Joey and Mona to hand over the drugs, but Hank arrives and arrests them. Joey then flees to the cemetery as the net closes in around the criminals.

In the cemetery, Sammy plans to swap the suitcase for money, but Bart shoots Sammy and chases Joey. Joey uses his last bullet to kill Bart, ending that pursuit.

Lance goes to Mort's house and is shot by Spuntz; Hank shoots Spuntz. Hank reveals that the supposed drugs were caffeine, sedative, and laxative, and the criminals fall into the pool. The final scene shows Joey grabbing Sammy's suitcase and leaving the city with Mona.
