In the mid-1980s, regionally successful entrepreneur Manfred Brenner anticipates a breakthrough with his newly founded company, FlowTex. He aims to revolutionize underground pipeline construction with innovative horizontal drilling systems. Initially, success proves difficult to achieve, and Brenner ultimately relies on fabricated orders and mounting debt to create the illusion of a thriving business. Using charm and persuasion, he builds a fraudulent consortium of companies with a few helpers and falsified documents, concealing his scheme for a considerable time.
