Taylor vanishes while investigating a nearby cliff, leaving Nova alone and vulnerable. She finds herself forced to fend for herself in a hostile environment, struggling to survive without his guidance.

Brent, the last survivor of a catastrophic spaceship crash, awakens in the distant year of 3955. Confused and disoriented, he believes he is on an alien planet and begins searching for fellow astronaut Taylor.

During his quest, Brent stumbles upon Nova, who is wearing his commander's dog tags. This encounter sparks hope in Brent as he discovers that he is not alone in this strange world.

Brent and Nova make their way to Ape City, where they are confronted by a bewildering civilization of apes. The leader of the apes, General Ursus, is eager to expand the territory of the apes into the Forbidden Zone.

Amidst the rallying efforts for war led by General Ursus, Dr. Zaius, an orangutan filled with wisdom, cautions against attacking the Forbidden Zone. His insight reflects a deep understanding of the potential consequences of their aggression.

Brent suffers an injury from a gorilla soldier, which leads to a dramatic rescue by Nova. Their bond strengthens as they seek refuge with Cornelius and Zira, two insightful chimpanzees who reveal their past encounters with Taylor.

In a daring attempt to escape Ape City, Brent and Nova are captured and marked for execution. The situation becomes increasingly dire as time runs out for the duo, but hope arrives when Zira intervenes.

The pair is led to the forgotten subway system at Queensboro Plaza. Here, Brent realizes with horror that he is on a devastated Earth, not an alien planet, deepening the sense of urgency for their escape.

Brent and Nova come across a group of telepathic humans who worship a hidden nuclear warhead. The mutants employ mind manipulation tactics that complicate matters, revealing their desperate situation and reliance on deception.

As tensions escalate, the telepathic humans prepare to activate their 'Divine Bomb.' However, their pretenses unravel as Brent and Nova witness the disturbing physical afflictions caused by nuclear radiation among the mutants.

Brent finds himself imprisoned and forced into a violent confrontation due to a mutant's mental powers. In a desperate attempt to call Taylor to her side, Nova's intervention breaks the mutant's concentration, shifting their fate.

As chaos reigns, Taylor recognizes the insignia on the bomb as a signal of impending doom. The trio realizes that the destructive tendencies of humanity have come full circle, threatening life itself.

In a final act of defiance against the oppressive forces, Brent and Taylor face a cataclysmic explosion triggered by Taylor collapsing onto the bomb’s detonator. This moment irrevocably scatters the remnants of civilization, marking a tragic end to their struggles.
